We’re almost done interviewing the past guests who were on our wishlist, and we’ll be focusing on staff interviews over the coming month. We’ll continue posting updates here as the project progresses. Look for the first trailer in February or March!
Announcing: UNCONVENTIONAL: The TimeGate / WHOlanta Story – a new documentary film coming in 2025.
Way back on March 26, 2005, Susan Rey and R. Alan Siler started a convention called TimeGate. Ten years later, that con morphed into a new entity called WHOlanta. Two different names, but the core of the event remained the same. To celebrate the con’s 20th anniversary, we are proud to announce the upcoming documentary about the history and legacy of that convention, UNCONVENTIONAL: The TimeGate / WHOlanta Story. The film will feature brand-new interviews with con-runners, volunteers and guests as well as archival footage and photos never before seen by the public.
To help make this venture possible, we’re asking for a little assistance from our fans and friends. We’re launching a crowdfunding campaign through Indiegogo to help us raise the funds needed to bring this film to our longtime audience and give new audiences the chance to get to experience our convention for the first time. UPDATE #1: The day before we launched our Indiegogo Campaign, we got a great interview with our good friend Robert Allsopp, costume and prop designer on Doctor Who! He shares his memories of visiting our con in 2014 and 2019, and participating in our first Virtual Con in 2020! You’ll hear his stories when the documentary comes out next May!
UPDATE #2: We had a fabulous chat with Cat Smith, who was a guest at our convention for the last four years. Cat tells some great stories about performing in our cabaret, interviewing Louise Jameson, putting together a play for our virtual con, and ALL THE DOGS! You can hear all of Cat’s stories in the Documentary when it comes out in 2025!
UPDATE #3: We’ve lined up an interview with everyone’s favorite Enterprise officer, Lt. Moxie Magnus (or, more accurately, her creator, Brantley Moate)! She’ll be graciously taking some time away from her duties as Chief Cosmetologist and beaming in from the 22nd Century to share her memories of TimeGate / WHOlanta! We’ll be shooting this interview sometime in the next few weeks. You’ll see it ALL in UNCONVENTIONAL: The TimeGate / WHOlanta Story next May!
