The musical archaeologists of Modern Musicology are on an expedition to uncover albums that are celebrating 45th Anniversaries — The Albums of 1978! It was a great year with amazing game-changing debuts from Prince, Van Halen, The Police, The Cars, Kate Bush, Generation X, Devo, and many more. It was a big year for Disco and Funk. Two metal and hard rock institutions (Rainbow and Black Sabbath) both faced crossroads in their career. It was a huge year for Casablanca Records, with major releases from KISS, Donna Summer, Parliament, The Village People, and others (anyone remember Teri DeSario??). Plus, we cover amazing releases by The Ramones, The Clash, XTC, Heart, Blondie, and many more. And we just couldn’t let 1978 go by without dropping the needle on that ill-fated Sgt Pepper film and soundtrack!
